If you don’t know who Hideo Kojima is, we don’t really know how to help you. The man has been a towering presence in the gaming industry for, let’s just say, a while. He’s the mind behind fan-favorite titles like Metal Gear Solid, the polarizing-yet-beautiful Death Stranding with Norman Reedus, and upcoming projects like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and the mysterious OD (which… yeah, we still don’t quite get that one).

So, it’s safe to say Kojima doesn’t exactly think in straight lines. But he’s also not getting any younger—a sobering fact for fans, even though hopefully, we’ve got many more years of his cinematic chaos to come. Still, he’s thought ahead. Because, of course, he has.

The USB to Solve Them All

Apparently, Hideo Kojima is leaving behind a USB stick. No, not with financial passwords or secret recipes—with game ideas. Yup, he’s planning for a future where even after his death, Kojima Productions can continue to bring his creative madness to life.

We don’t know exactly what’s on that USB yet (and probably won’t until it’s time), but knowing Kojima? There’s a decent chance it contains genre-breaking, mind-bending, and possibly reality-questioning concepts we’re not even ready for.

Honestly? It’s extremely on-brand, and we shouldn’t expect less from the man who makes us scratch our heads more often than not.

Final Thoughts

Look—of course, Hideo Kojima would do something like this. It’s the perfect mix of off-the-wall weirdness and sincere creative planning that defines him as a developer. He knows the future isn’t promised, so he’s making sure every strange, brilliant, possibly terrifying idea he’s come up with lives on.

And given how much his team respects him, we can pretty much guarantee they’ll treat that USB like the Holy Grail of game design. If this leads to the industry’s first official ghost game designer, we’re 100% here for it. We have posthumous authors—why not posthumous Kojima games?
