Announced during Gamescom, a title based on The Seven Deadly Sins was shown off in a short trailer. While it did not elaborate on any new details to expect, it did announce that this game would receive a Closed Beta for players to engage with. Giving them a taste of what is to come in this exciting anime-based adventure!

What is The Seven Deadly Sins?

Not to be confused by simply talking of the sins themselves, it is the title of a manga written by Nakaba Suzuki, which began publication on October 10, 2012, in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine. It would then receive an animated adaptation on October 5, 2014, that was produced by A-1 Pictures and would receive around five seasons. It is currently available to be watched on Netflix for anyone aiming to catch up on the story.

It stars Meliodas and a cast of friends on several fantasy adventures. With many chapters or seasons to dive into, it is material that this new game aims to adapt from. Bringing the world to the third dimension and expanding on the lore of the series.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is a fantasy-adventure RPG being developed and published by Netmarble. It features action combat within an open world built on the original series. While the trailer at Gamescom was brief, we have gotten a look at gameplay in the past. Allowing us to explore the world of Britannia in the third dimension, joining Meliodas and his gang on a new adventure and story exclusive to the video game. In a world that aims to faithfully capture the spirit of the original story, it grips existing fans of the series while perhaps being a familiar setting to those who have played titles like the Dragon Quest series.

The story is focused around embarking on a journey to restore order to a world thrown into chaos by the collision of time and space. Immersing you in the role of Prince Tristan of the Kingdom of Liones as you explore the secrets and abilities it has to offer you. Building a team of diverse characters across a roster that includes some fan-favorites across the series.

What is the Closed Beta Test?

While it was not elaborated on in the trailer itself, focusing primarily on showing off the game again, it did link to a page you can visit to sign up. Giving you details on the game itself, as well as how to join in on the beta. Where you will be asked several questions about the game, including the systems it will be available on during the test–PlayStation 5 and PC!

Much like other Closed Beta Tests in other games, these are generally held to give the game a stress test and allow the public a chance to get a hands-on experience of the title. Allowing for feedback to be given to the game developers to go back and make any adjustments before release.

Aside from that, to receive other updates about the game, they even have a Discord server for those also aiming to connect with other players like them. As well as the usual social media, such as YouTube and X.

When will the game release?

They have not disclosed a final release date at this time. Aiming for a release date sometime in 2025, it is currently up on Steam to those wishing to add it to the list for when it does eventually release. Though for those curious about price, rest assured! As it will be a free-to-play experience similar to games like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero. Meaning, as long as players own the systems supported by the game, they are free to join in on the experience once it launches later this year!
