EA Games is adding yet another Expansion Pack to The Sims 4. There’ve been plenty of leaks, so we had some idea of what was coming, but the trailer dropped today, and it’s packed full of so many things to see! I’ve scoured the trailer for all of the best details so I could break it down. Ready to send your Sims on a fresh getaway?
There’ve been some images floating around for a while now, but I didn’t expect most of what we saw in this trailer. Let’s start with the basis of this pack. Sending your Sims on vacation in The Sims 4 is hardly new. So, seeing another pack that centers on that concept wasn’t groundbreaking. But, and I think you’ll agree, this one is different.
Near the end of the trailer, it says, “create and customize venues” and then “design your own getaways.” They seem to suggest that you can create your own unique getaway experiences. Now that is something to be really excited about. Even if you aren’t great at building things, I imagine some very creative Simmers will create so many things to add to your game that you’ll have a tough time choosing what to add to your own.
Add to that, the getaways that are already included for you, and this one looks like a winner. But, of course, this wouldn’t be a Sims 4 expansion pack without many new items and things to build with. I saw plenty of that in the trailer, too!
In the trailer, we saw three getaway options. The first looks like a summer camp for children, called Camp Gibbi Gibbi, complete with a Sim growing up to be a camp director. They introduced imaginary friends, archery, and even modular playground equipment. That alone looks like fun to play around with. We also saw bunkbeds in the cabins, children throwing paper airplanes, and new furniture pieces to fit with the camp cabin aesthetic.
Then there was Revive and Thrive, where we saw a very frustrated mom get away for a fitness experience. She used free weights, took a spin class, and even dove off a diving board into a pool. Those are all new items for The Sims 4. And we haven’t even discussed the things in her house since she left. She used a blender, and we definitely saw a lot of play and even some kid crafting happening in that scene.
The third venue, Love Highland, is definitely a “romantic contest” as described in the video’s description. We see the Sims getting romantic, and one unfortunate getting voted off! But the location is interesting too because it’s on the water and has a pier. There are also canoes lying near the house. They also use an in-ground hot tub, and near the end of that scene, you can actually see Sims using canoes on the water!
There’s more than just the trailer available now. The store page is up, of course. So let’s break down the new features.
In my opinion, yes! But you don’t need to rush to preorder it or get it right away. Sure, there are preorder bonus items, but I’d rather not encourage that trend. It’s frustrating to see EA resort to that tactic when they know many people will buy it right away anyway. The items should all be included in the pack. For everyone. But that’s just my opinion. I’m sure some folks disagree, and that’s OK!
What makes this pack so attractive to me is the fact that it includes a new gameplay style. Not only can you send your Sims to a retreat, but you can also build it and create a customized getaway. Then there’s everything else that comes with it. The new skills are particularly interesting to me. It’s always fun to have more for the Sims to do.
