Jian “Uzi” Zihao becomes the second member inducted into the LoL Esports Hall of Legends. After Faker’s induction last year, there was plenty of speculation about who would follow in his footsteps the following year. Uzi was the predominant name thrown around, and it is no surprise that the Legendary Chinese Bot Laner would join Faker as part of this prestigious club of professional League of Legends players.
Heralded as the greatest Bot Lane Carry player in League of Legends history. He redefined what it meant to be an Attack Damage Carry. During the Hall of Legends Trailer, Caster Jun stated, “When I saw Uzi play, I realized what the word ‘Carry’ meant.” He has left a long-lasting impact on the LoL Esports scene, still influencing the up-and-coming Bot Laners.
Despite his influence on LoL Esports, Uzi struggled to acquire trophies, something the first Hall of Legends inductee, Faker, was no stranger to. Faker also prevented one of his World Championships in 2013. He and Royal Club would make a second consecutive Worlds Final in 2014. He would be denied again, this time by Samsung White.
It would only be in 2018 that Uzi would finally claim his well-deserved trophies. On Royal Never Give Up, he won the LPL Spring and Summer Championships. He garnered his first international success in 2018, defeating Kingzone DragonX in the Midseason Championship finals. The World Championship Trophy would elude Uzi for the rest of his career, not even making a Worlds Final again after the defeat in 2014.
Like Faker last year, there will be an in-game event pass where players can earn cosmetics dedicated to Uzi, allowing them to relive crucial moments in his career. While there is no confirmation that he will receive a skin like Faker’s Ahri, it is expected. The event begins on June 11th, with the Hall of Legends Induction Ceremony in Shanghai, China, on June 6th.
Mercedes-Benz will celebrate Uzi with a custom-designed art piece and a personalized Mercedes-Benz G-Class with EQ Technology. As the player who defined the Bot Laner role in LoL Esports, it is no surprise that he will join Faker and become the first LPL inductee.
More details regarding the event pass and the expected skin will follow in the coming days. A documentary in his honor is on the horizon, so keep a keen eye on the League of Legends YouTube for that!
