Happy Friday Eve, the day the Epic Games Store gives you a gift like it’s your birthday every week. This week, they’re offering one game for both PC and mobile, and I’m here to tell you all about it so you can decide if you should open that game store right away.

Monument Valley – A Journey of Forgiveness

Although there’s just one game available this week, it’s a gorgeous one. One look at the art style and you’ll be intrigued. I was. You play through the game following the silent princess, Ida. She’s “on a journey of forgiveness,” the description tells us. What is there to forgive? I suppose we’ll have to play the game to find out. Described as “meditative and calming,” this puzzle game is certainly beautiful to look at.

I’m immediately drawn to the style of the landscape, which you have to manipulate to create a path for the princess through the environment. Since this game is also available through the Epic Games Store mobile app, you can experience it for free on your mobile device or on PC.

Monument Valley was created by ustwo games, and it was released for mobile devices in 2014. It came to PC in 2022. It received a whole host of awards in 2014 and 2015. There are now two sequels, and we can already see that the Epic Games Store will have Monument Valley II for free starting September 11! Don’t worry about remembering. We’ll remind you! And, if the name ustwo games isn’t familiar to you, it should be! They’re also responsible for creating Assemble with Care and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure.

How to Claim Freebies From the Epic Games Store

Whether you want to play on your PC or your Android (or iOS) device, you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a PC, you can download the Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know, I know. That’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.

For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.

And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.

Happy gaming!
