The biggest upset of Worlds 2025 so far has happened. KT Rolster has defeated GenG Esports for the second time in a Best-of-Five series. They became the first team to win more than one against GenG. Only Hanwa Life Esports has managed to win against GenG in a Best-of-Five. They have qualified for the Grand Finals for the first time in the organization’s history. None of the players on the side of KT have made a Worlds Final before.
Summary
Game one kicked off the way many expected. GenG had control of the game, and all they needed was one more clean teamfight. Canyon went too far with the Vi ultimate, opening up the fight for KT. Only the mid laners lived on both teams. Bdd and Kiin played the fight to perfection. KT secured the Mountain Soul, and with the time, bought the scaling of Caitlyn, and Yone took over to win the game for KT.
GenG took the second game to even up the series. GenG had the lead for most of the game but struggled to close out. KT made it difficult for the LCK Champions to win a fight comfortably.
The teams traded Azir and Orianna in game three. Bdd showed why you never give him Azir, as he dominated Chovy in lane, gaining a solo kill. Chovy had one of the worst performances of his career as he was caught on multiple occasions throughout the game. KT took a dominant victory to move to match point.
Game four encapsulated the struggles that GenG had throughout. They were not calculated enough in fights and tried to force plays. That is very unlike GenG, given they have been the most meticulous team this year. KT continued to punish GenG’s errors and earned a 3-1 shock victory.

Player of the Series – Bdd
Bdd has been one of the best midlaners throughout his career. However, he has never had his crowning moment at an international event. He has finally made a Worlds Final for the first time in his career. On the other side, Chovy has been the best player in the world for the past few years. He has never made the Worlds Finals, but has at least won MSI twice. Bdd earns his chance to lift the Summoner’s Cup while Chovy must wait one more year.
If T1 manages to defeat Top Esports tomorrow, the two Telecom teams will meet each other for the first time in the Grand Final. All five KT players have never played in a Worlds Final and might hope that T1 loses to TES.
