The Las Vegas Aces (29-14) earned their 15th straight win during their last home game of the regular season on Tuesday night at 7pm PT at the T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night against the Chicago Sky (10-33).
Kierstan Bell was ruled out of Tuesday’s game with a lower right leg injury.
The Aces got off to a quick 6-2 lead. Rookie Aaliyah Nye made the starting lineup for the game. NaLyssa Smith made her comeback after being in concussion protocol in Sunday’s game against the Sky.
Cheyenne Parker-Tyus checked in for the first time since returning from maternity leave to score her first two points as an Las Vegas Ace. The Aces closed out the first quarter with a 19-4 run.
“It means everything. I’m just thankful to be here,” Parker-Tyus said before the start of the second quarter.
Chicago picked up the defense with under 2:00 left in the half and went on a 10-0 run. To close out the first half, the Aces led 43-35 after a Jewell Loyd three-pointer in closing seconds.
In the third quarter, the Aces had a little bit of trouble but picked up the pace to turn up their defense. The tide turned for the Aces when they were returned a possession after officials ruled that Chicago turned it over.
Jewell Loyd scored her 6,000th career point during the quarter and continued to make back-to-back pivotal plays to turn it around for the Aces. At the close of the third quarter the Aces led by as much as 20.
“I guess longevity, it’s the work I put in also the people around me, supporting me. I know I’m not out here by myself,” Jewell Loyd recounted about reaching the 6,000th point milestone.
Following the win, Jewell Loyd talked about how important this win was. “We definitely need it, we understand that everyone on this team has value and has weapons. We just encourage everyone to be themselves and nights like tonight mean a lot, we’ll take it.”
The Aces continue their win streak earning win No. 15, 92-61 against Chicago. Las Vegas heads to Los Angeles (20-22) to take on the Sparks on Thursday, September 11 at 7pm PT.
