Team work makes the dream work as the Las Vegas Aces even the series 1-1 with the Indiana Fever with a 90-68 win.
Indiana Comes Out Swinging
In the first half, the Aces stayed within stride of Indiana as the Fever came out swinging. NaLyssa Smith and Chelsea Gray helped to keep the Aces to within at least one point before the Aces called their first timeout and challenge with 5:38 remaining in the first quarter.
Jewell Loyd gives the Aces a 11-9 lead at the 5:16 mark in the first quarter. A’ja Wilson began to heat up, scoring 11 points, grabbing down 3 rebounds and adding to the Aces lead, going up 26-17 to close out the first quarter.
The Aces find Consistency
In the second quarter, the Aces found their consistency that’s gotten them to the Semifinals. Las Vegas exhibited great ball movement on the offensive end with everyone on the floor getting a chance to score. To close out the first half, the Aces lead the Fever 46-35.
The Aces break 80
To close out the third quarter, the Aces led by as much as 20 points, closing out the quarter with 80 points. Indiana tried to catch up as much as they could, but the Aces continued to have good ball movement.
A’ja Wilson hit two different milestones. She moved up to 6th on the league’s all-time playoff rebound list and 5th with most field goals made in playoff history.
Las Vegas evens the series 1-1 as they clinch a 90-68 win over Indiana heading into game three.
“I just feel like we executed at a better level. The effort was there,” said Aces coach Becky Hammon.
When asked about the difference between game one and two, A’ja Wilson said, “I don’t think it was a wake-up call, I just think we came to work. We didn’t come to work on game one.”
The Aces head to Indiana to hopefully gain the upper hand in the series on Friday, September 26 at 4:30pm PT. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
