The Las Vegas Aces are currently playing their best basketball of the season. They are in the midst of the longest winning-streak by any team in the WNBA this season, extending their impressive streak with yet another dominant performance on Thursday night.
Behind impressive offensive performances by virtually everyone on the Aces on Thursday, with five players scoring in double-figures, it was their team-defense that was the difference against the Phoenix Mercury in this one.
The Aces held the Mercury to just 61 points, routing th eir rivals in the standings 83-61. The Mercury had just two players reach double-digits, Alyssa Thomas (17) and Satou Sabally (15).
The Aces held the Mercury to just 31.0% shooting from the field (22-of-71) and just 18.8% from 3-point range (6-of-32). The Aces also did not allow the Mercury to reach 20 points in any quarter. The Mercury scored 17 points in the first and third quarters, 15 points in the fourth quarter, and just 12 points in the second quarter.
This total domination by the Aces adds up to the two-time WNBA champion Aces now holding the longest winning-streak in the league at nine straight games.

This had the Aces' social media team rush to X as soon as the game went final. They posted nine lines of "ACES WIN!", adding one additional exclamation point for each subsequent line, reaching nine to match their current winning-streak.
The Aces' superstar, and perennial MVP candidate, A'ja Wilson, was at the top of her game again in this one, as she dropped another double-double, finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
The Aces chance at win No. 10 in a row will come on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. EDT, on the road, against the Washington Mystics. The Mystics' playoff hopes are still alive, as they currently sit in the tenth spot in the standings with a 16-20 record.
