The Las Vegas Aces are one win away from their third championship in four years, and they have just received word about what to expect in a potentially title-clinching Game Four on Friday.

According to the Phoenix Mercury, forward Satou Sabally has been diagnosed with a concussion and will be ruled out for Friday’s game.

With four and a half minutes remaining during Wednesday’s Game Three, Sabally was fouled by Aces guard Jackie Young. As she fell to the court, Sabally’s head collided with the knee of Aces guard Kierstan Bell, resulting in the forward lying motionless for a brief moment. While she was escorted off the court, Sabally did not return to the game, which the Aces won 90-88 by way of an A’ja Wilson buzzer beater.

It is a gut-wrenching loss for the Mercury, especially as Sabally was playing well as they were coming back from a 17-point deficit. Prior to her injury, she was leading the Mercury with 24 points scored, as well as adding five rebounds and three assists.

The Mercury were up against it facing a 3-0 deficit and needing four straight victories to fend off the Aces dynasty, and the absence of Sabally will only make that road much more difficult.
