On Monday afternoon, the Las Vegas Aces announced that they waived Tiffany Mitchell.
The roster move came as the Aces made the trade to acquire NaLyssa Smith from the Dallas Wings.
The Aces decision to waive Mitchell ended the short-live reunion with Michell’s South Carolina Gamecock A’ja Wilson. The two overlapped for two seasons while at South Carolina.
Back on February 8, the Aces signed Mitchell. She played in 16 games while with the Aces and started in two.
Mitchell averaged 3.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and played over 13 minutes per game.
This is Tiffany Mitchell’s 10th season in the WNBA. Mitchell was drafted No. 9 overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft. Mitchell spent a bulk of her career with the Indiana Fever before playing for the Minnesota Lynx in the 2023 season.
In 2024, Mitchell’s stint with the Connecticut Sun was shortened due to suffering sepsis and abdominal issues.
Earlier in the month, A’ja Wilson said, “An automatic yes” to reuniting with former teammate Tiffany Mitchell.
While at South Carolina, Mitchell was a three-time All-American, three-time All-SEC, and won back-to-back SEC Player of the Year (2013-14 and 2014-15).
The Aces are currently 8-8.
