A’ja Wilson signs largest contract in WNBA history

A’Ja Wilson has officially reset the market in the WNBA.

The four-time MVP signed a new three-year contract to return to the Las Vegas Aces , according to Shams Charania of ESPN. The supermax deal is worth $5 million and is fully guaranteed.

By comparison, Wilson made $200,000 in 2025.

An average salary of roughly $1.6 million may not seem like much in the grand schemes of athlete salaries, but it is a huge step forward for WNBA players.

It was only a few days ago that the Aces also handed out the first million-dollar contract in league history. The increase in salaries is thanks to the league’s new CBA, which significantly boosts player earnings.

Wilson has certainly earned it. The 29-year-old has won MVP honors in back-to-back seasons and was named Defensive Player of the Year in three of the last four years. She averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game last season en route to the third WNBA title of her career.
