The Las Vegas Aces could be without All-Star center A’ja Wilson for a few games after she injured her wrist during Tuesday's outing against the New York Liberty.

According to a report published by the Associated Press, the injury occurred with four minutes, 13 seconds left in the second quarter when Wilson drove down the lane to go for a layup, but landed awkwardly after being fouled. Wilson lay on the floor for a few minutes until she could get up and walk to the Aces bench inside the Barclays Center.

She was given a standing ovation by the crowd and made the first of her two free throws. Wilson left the game with 2:22 remaining in the first half with only two points scored and four rebounds as the Aces lost to the Liberty 87-78.

Las Vegas coach Becky Hammond told reporters during a postgame interview her team’s training staff will not know how severe the injury is until Wilson undergoes an MRI. Furthermore, Hammond emphasized taking the situation one step at a time.

Following the incident, Wilson underwent MRI scans on Wednesday and expressed gratitude to the hospital staff who helped her through the testing.

“Welp! Nothing wakes you up like the sound of an MRI machine lol,” Wilson wrote on Threads. “But just wanna say thank you all for prayers! NYL, thank you sooooo much for the quick help & privacy. I truly appreciate it .”

Wilson also showed gratitude to her teammates, who helped her through the rough game. “To my squad, thank you for preventing my crash out lol,” she added.

“God has a plan that I’ll never question. We are gonna be alright! ”

A timetable for Wilson’s return has yet to be announced, as this is her second injury of the season. She missed three consecutive games in June while in the WNBA concussion protocol.
