The incident involving A’ja Wilson and an Indiana Fever fan continues to be a huge talking point in WNBA circles. It happened during Game of the team’s first-round playoff series against the Las Vegas Aces at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sept. 29. Aliyah Boston addressed it on her podcast with Candace Parker on Wednesday.
Wilson confronted the fan for pointing at her and the officials assessed her with a technical foul. Security removed the fan from his seat but allowed him to return after determining that he did not violate any protocol. Analysts, players and fans have since chimed in on the exchange and shared their thoughts about it.
The Fever won the game 99-89 to force a winner-take-all Game 3. However, they failed to dethrone the defending champions, losing 94-83 on Thursday. Boston finished with 19 points on 9-of-18 shooting, along with 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
The four-time All-Star forward/center admitted that she and her teammates were unsure what was happening as it unfolded. She recalled being on a huddle and away from that side of the court.
“We were all like in our huddle and we had no idea what was literally going on until we saw like the entire Vegas bench like get up.,” Boston said. “It was because we were literally playing and then it was kind of like everyone just ran over to one side and we’re all just so confused.”

The WNBA reviewed the incident and did not punish Wilson. She and her team advanced to the next round and are battling the No. 2-seeded Golden State Valkyries for a finals berth. The Aces are looking to win their fourth title in five years.
Indiana, on the other hand, has a longer offseason than it wanted. However, there’s still a lot of positives the team can build on next season, including Boston’s strong play.
