The Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream are preparing for an elimination Game 3 in the WNBA playoffs.
Atlanta earned the Game 1 victory and the Fever blew out the Dream in Game 2 to tie up the series ahead of the final matchup of the first round.
Just before a 77-60 victory over the Dream in Game 2, Aliyah Boston shared her thoughts on the current state of the WNBA on her podcast, "Post Moves."
While speaking on the recent season, Boston was discussing potential candidates for Coach of the Year. The Fever star mentioned that Atlanta Dream coach Karl Smesko should be in the running for the award given the team's success this season.
"I think the Atlanta coach as well is really in that running because what he's been able to do with his roster and the way that they shoot the three ball and the way that they just flow," Boston said. "They you look at everyone on the roster and how much they've approved in just joining that squad. I feel like he really has a good case."
Karl Smesko is coaching in his first season with the Atlanta Dream.
Before taking over as the Dream head coach and embarking on coaching in the WNBA for the first time in his career, Smesko served as the head coach at FGCU from 2002 to 2024.
He's now looking to lead a team with Brittney Griner, Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard to the second round of the WNBA playoffs, while facing one of the biggest stars in the league, Aliyah Boston.
Throughout the 2025 season, Boston has posted 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
