The WNBA All-Star Game picks are in and the Chicago Sky have sent Angel Reese to the game once again. The LSU legend secured her second straight nod for the weekend festivities, to be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. 23-year-old Reese will be joining the likes of Skylar Diggins, Alyssa Thomas, Kelsey Plum and Kelsey Mitchell among the reserves.
Angel Reese had a slow start to the season, averaging lower scoring numbers and shooting worse than she did as a rookie. But she has picked up the pace over the last three weeks, imposing her will on opposing frontcourt players. Reese has scored points in double digits in eight of her past 10 games, and double-digit rebounds in eight of 10 games as well.
She is currently on a streak of four straight double-doubles, including 70 rebounds in her last four games. Angel Reese is also the reigning Player of the Week for the Eastern Conference at the moment. Her 2025 season averages of 12.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per game look more like her 2024 numbers. Slowly but surely, Reese is also becoming a complete offensive threat, mainly by improving as a playmaker at her spot.
Her recent improvements have not gone unnoticed, as both her peers and the coaches have voted her in as an All-Star. Angel Reese has taken the news of her selection with a great deal of grace – one of her defining traits. There’s some endearing footage of her nod being given to her at a pre-game shootaround, with her teammates’ genuinely happy celebrations coming to the forefront.

She tweeted her appreciation of her teammates, noting that even her achievement was something for them to celebrate and be proud of:
Individual awards are team awards! Wouldn’t be able to do this without them!

The Chicago Sky will travel to Minneapolis to face the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, who sealed an 82-71 win against the Golden State Valkyries in their previous game.
Much like the 2024 WNBA rookie class, the 2025 rookie class has also seen multiple All-Star selections. While only Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese were called up last year, there are three rookie selections in 2025. This includes Washington Mystics rookie duo Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen , as well as Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers . All three of these players are locked in a competitive WNBA Rookie of the Year race.
Among others, Gabby Williams and Kayla Thornton also sealed their maiden WNBA All-Star nods. Williams, who starred for the French national team and brought them to the brink of the gold medal, has been in great form for the Seattle Storm in her first full season with the team. Veteran Minnesota Lynx point guard Courtney Williams also marks her return to the festivities for the first time in four years.
The game promises to hold a lot of entertainment value. Captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier are slated to pick their teams in a televised draft on ESPN on Tuesday, July 8. They will be expected to try and maintain a ‘youngsters vs veterans’ theme, similar in some ways to how last year’s game was between Olympians and non-Olympians. Although only bragging rights are on the line, fans can expect a good, competitive game much like 2024.
