The Chicago Sky got their third win of the season on Sunday against the Connecticut Sun, winning by a final score of 78-66.
The Sky were led by Angel Reese, who recorded her first career triple-double. The former LSU star put up 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in 36 minutes while shooting 2-of-7 from the field and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.
“(I’m) trying to get back to being super versatile,” Reese said after the game, via The Athletic. “And (coach Tyler Marsh) made that emphasis early on in the season. And I didn’t understand it, and I really was kinda confused and trying to figure it out. I’m still figuring it out. But I have patience.
“I’m just super excited, and then to add it with a win just feels really good.”
The Sky (3-7) are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings. They have the third-worst record overall in the WNBA.
However, Michael Voepel of ESPN moved Chicago up one spot in his WNBA power rankings after Reese and Co. beat Connecticut.
Voepel has the Sky at No. 11 in his weekly power rankings.
"After losing to the Liberty and Dream earlier in the week, the Sky secured a much-needed pick-me-up Sunday with a 78-66 win at the Sun as Angel Reese got her first WNBA triple-double (11 points, 11 assists, 13 rebounds)," Voepel wrote.
"Chicago has the league's second-worst net rating at minus-14.6, ranking ahead of only Connecticut's minus-22."
Reese is averaging 10.4 points and 11.9 rebounds on the season, but she's shooting just 35.7% from the field and 25.0% from 3.
The one-time All-Star must improve her shooting for Chicago to get into the playoff picture.
