After Rose BC beat Laces BC on Sunday's Unrivaled semifinals game, one of the biggest questions surrounding the team was Angel Reese's playing status for the game.
The Chicago Sky star missed the semifinals due to a hand injury. During their final regular season game, Reese appeared to re-injure the surgically repaired left hand that ended her WNBA rookie season prematurely.
While some were holding out hope that Reese would be able to suit up for the title showdown after some rest, this was not the case.
Reese has been officially ruled out for the finals, with Meghan L. Hall of USA Today confirming the development. Aside from the WNBA star, Kahleah Copper has also been listed as out for Rose BC due to a right leg injury.
Rose BC's finals opponents, Vinyl BC, are also without superstar Arike Ogunbowale due to a leg issue.
Unrivaled 3/17 status report (Finals):
— Meghan L. Hall (@ItsMeghanLHall) March 17, 2025
VINYL:
Arike Ogunbowale (R Leg) - OUT
ROSE:
Angel Reese (Hand) - OUT
Kahleah Copper (R Leg) - OUT
Angel Reese averaged 13.3 points and 12.1 rebounds per game during the Unrivaled regular season. She was also named as a member of the All-Unrivaled Second Team and hailed the winner of the Defensive Player of the Year award, so her absence in the most important contest of the competition is definitely a big blow for Rose BC.
Without Reese, Rose BC will have to rely on Chelsea Gray once again to carry the team. Gray was the only double-digit scorer for the team in the semifinals against Laces BC, dropping 39 points.
