Angel Reese Declares New Nickname After Announcing Ownership Move

Alex Morgan. Sue Bird. Simone Manuel. Chloe Kim. These are some of the greatest female athletes on the planet, and now, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has joined their ranks.

It was announced on Thursday that Reese has joined the TOGETHXR ownership group alongside its founders. TOGETHXR is a media and commerce group that aims to push women’s sports movement forward. It was established in 2021.

On Thursday, Reese expressed how excited she is about her big move off the basketball court.

"It's huge for me," Reese said, via USA TODAY Sports. "It means standing alongside women who aren’t just legends in their sports, but real trailblazers in business and culture. They’ve opened doors for so many of us, and now I get to lock arms with them and keep pushing things forward. That’s powerful."

The two-time All-Star took to Instagram to share multiple posts about her latest venture, which also included a new self-declared nickname.

As for her basketball, Reese received some unfortunate news on Thursday as well. The 23-year-old was hoping to get her technical foul from Wednesday’s win against the Connecticut Sun rescinded, but the WNBA decided against doing so.

The league announced that Reese will be suspended for Friday’s rivalry showdown against a Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever side. This is after the former LSU star received her eighth technical foul of the season, which warrants an automatic one-game suspension.

In her sophomore year, Reese has put up averages of 14.7 points, a league-best 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 30 games played. The Sky, however, have the third-worst record in the WNBA at 10-30 and are set to miss the playoffs for a second year running.
