Chicago Sky star Angel Reese had a phenomenal rookie season in the WNBA. Not only did she record the longest double-double streak in league history, but she also became an All-Star in the process.
Reese finished the campaign as the rebounding leader per game with an average of 13.1 boards, all while ranking second in total rebounds with 446. The 22-year-old also averaged 13.6 points on 39.1 percent shooting, showing that she can also contribute offensively.
Despite the big year she had, however, Reese has been facing the same criticism about her game. While she's a rebounding machine, many are downplaying her ability because of her missed layups.
Over the course of the season, and even this offseason, many claimed that she was only able to record double digits in rebounding because she grabs her own misses.
On Friday, Reese appeared to fire back at the ugly narrative by sharing a post on X that defends her. The post includes a video of some of her rebounding highlights from her rookie year, with a message from a fan saying, "3 min clip and not one of these off her own misses lol that narrative is so dumb."

The narrative will likely follow Angel Reese until she proves on the court that she can be more efficient in scoring while keeping her rebounding rate at the same level.
However, it is interesting to note that Reese has been working to improve her game this offseason, even getting the help of WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, who promised to fix her layup.
Reese also played in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league, during which she dominated and won Defensive Player of the Year.
