Angel Reese is Trending After Decking Alyssa Thomas

After falling to 0-3 to begin the 2025 WNBA season, Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky were still seeking their first win under new head coach Tyler Marsh.

On Tuesday night, the Sky had another shot at their first victory, taking on Alyssa Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury in Arizona.

With 5:11 left to play in the opening quarter, Reese and the Sky held a one-point lead, their first of the night. As Courtney Vandersloot was pushing the ball down the court, Reese set a massive screen on Thomas, sending her flying the other way.

Thomas would have hit the deck much harder, but as she was falling to the ground, she grabbed Reese's jersey to brace herself. The Mercury forward was handed a personal foul, giving Reese two free throws, making both and increasing Chicago's lead.

WNBA fans took notice of Reese's hit on Thomas, taking to social media to leave their thoughts.

"You gotta sum work to level AT like data," one fan wrote.

"Angel Reese just set a bone jarring screen on Alyssa Thomas. Thomas was knocked to the ground and grabbed Angel’s jersey otw down. I’m sure this will incite 72HRs of think pieces," added another.

"Alyssa Thomas ran into a brickwall, the brick wall was Reese…" said a third.

"Angel Reese just laid out Alyssa Thomas ," commented a fourth.

"Naw that was a hell of a screen by Angel Reese on Alyssa Thomas, I see why AT grabbed her jersey," posted a fifth..

"This is a dirty play by Angel Reese and she knows it. Alyssa Thomas took note. WNBA," claimed a sixth.

The Mercury have started the season with a 3-1 record despite undergoing some major roster changes. After Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner left, they brought in Thomas to remain competitive.

Following Tuesday's game, the Sky will take on the Dallas Wings in their next contest on Thursday.
