Angel Reese Laughs Off Guarding Alyssa Thomas With Savage Post-Game Comment

For the second time in the season, the Atlanta Dream came from a 15-point deficit and wrapped up a close win. Angel Reese showed her ‘importance’ in the game with her all-around performance and shared a ‘victory’ post following a game-winning steal.

The player made a bold statement during her first home game against the Las Vegas Aces, but failed to match up with A’ja Wilson on the court. In the game against Mercury, though, she dominated another MVP candidate, Alyssa Thomas, with her defensive gameplay.

For her aggressive defensive play, AR5 also receives a technical foul. But overall, she impressed everyone and won the game for her side. In the post-game interview, the player spoke about her ‘improved’ defensive efficiency, saying, “I told her I stole some things from her when I got that tech.”

After the Dream’s win over the Mercury, I asked Angel Reese about guarding Alyssa Thomas & then about getting flowers from Kahleah Copper pregame:

Alyssa Thomas had been one of the best defensive players in the league and earned seven All-Defensive team honors in the league so far. While Reese had been a rebounding queen in the league, she has yet to receive a defensive team selection. In the game against the Mercury, Reese had four steals, including the fourth, which won the game for the side.

Maybe learning from the best and playing alongside multiple All-Star players, the former LSU star would end up in an All-Defensive team and even lift a championship.

Angel Reese Records Stunning History In League

While the 24-year-old is receiving praise for her defensive efforts, she has continued her impressive double-double form in the league. Scoring 17 points and collecting 10 rebounds in the game, the 2024 rookie reached the milestone of 950 points and 850+ rebounds.

Incidentally, she is the fastest player to reach the feat, doing so in 69 games and surpassing great Tina Charles, who did it in 75 games.

After an early shaky start with the Atlanta Dream, the player found her groove and role on the team, making a massive impact on the team’s outcomes. She already spoke about her championship aspirations when she joined the Atlanta team, and her progress, along with the team’s performance so far this season, has put them in the contender discussions.
