From a popularity standpoint, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese's rivalry has truly elevated women's basketball to new heights.

Clark and Reese took the sports world by storm during the 2023 national championship game. As the clock was running out, Reese celebrated LSU's victory over Iowa by taunting Clark with her own celebration. Iowa eventually got redemption in 2024 by defeating LSU in the Elite Eight.

Fast forward to the 2024 WNBA season, and fans were able to witness Clark and Reese battle it out on the national stage multiple times. During a game in June, there was a ton of outrage when former Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter committed a flagrant foul on Clark.

Carter essentially hip-checked Clark as she was waiting for her teammate to inbound the basketball. Countless fans accused Carter of taking a cheap shot on the former No. 1 pick.

Longtime sports columnist Christine Brennan covered that incident in her latest book, "On Her Game: Caitlin Clark and the Revolution in Women’s Sports." There was a chapter titled "Hip Check."

Brennan revealed that she reached out to Reese for a comment on Carter's incident with Clark. Unfortunately, the former LSU star passed up on that opportunity.

"Through a spokeswoman, Reese declined several requests to comment for this book," Brennan wrote

As for Clark, she made her thoughts known during her postgame press conference on June 1, 2024.

"Yeah, I wasn’t expecting it. But I think it’s just, like, just respond, calm down, let your play do the talking. It is what it is. It’s a physical game, go make the free throw and then execute on offense, and I feel like that’s what we did," Clark said.
