Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has now missed six consecutive games due to a back injury, sidelining the WNBA’s top rebounder for more than two weeks. Reese last played on July 29, delivering 22 points and 13 rebounds despite battling foul trouble and discomfort. Her absence has left a noticeable gap in the Sky’s frontcourt, impacting both their scoring and rebounding presence.
With no set timetable for her return, the team’s playoff hopes continue to fade. As the season enters its final stretch, the two-time All-Star’s health remains a key storyline for Chicago, which is struggling to find consistency without its standout sophomore.
While sidelined, Reese has stayed active online. This week, she shared an old clip from last November—filmed by a former Chicago Sky video intern—on her Instagram Story.
Alongside the footage, the 23-year-old made a request to her million Instagram followers:
“Where can I get a vintage camera like this? I need direct links,” Reese wrote. “I need this camera with this same kind of look/effect ASAP & I can’t find it anywhere. Something that is also easy to access the film digitally!”
Amid her injury woes, Reese’s social media activity has kept her connected to fans during her absence. She has also been building her personal brand, recently announcing the upcoming release of her signature shoe with Reebok.
On the court this season, she has averaged about 14.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, recording a triple-double in June and also going on an impressive stretch of 15 double-double performances. Her dominance in the paint earned her a second straight All-Star selection, and she has continued to cement her status as one of the league’s brightest young stars.
Reese is set to miss her seventh straight game when Chicago faces Golden State Golden State Valkyries on Friday. Ahead of the crucial matchup, head coach Tyler Marsh told reporters that Reese is “making progress” but still has not returned to team practices.
At 8-24, the Sky are near the bottom of the standings, and every remaining game carries weight for their postseason chances. Reese’s return would provide an immediate boost, but with just weeks left in the regular season, her availability remains uncertain. However, the focus remains on her full recovery while Chicago looks to salvage what is left of their 2025 campaign.
