Angel Reese, after missing seven straight games with a back injury, made her return on Tuesday as the Chicago Sky were handed a 94-88 loss at the hands of the Seattle Storm. Despite not seeing any action since July 29, Reese still showed exactly why she is a two-time WNBA All-Star, tallying 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting, seven rebounds and four assists in just 26 minutes.

And the former LSU Tigers star was able to insert herself into the WNBA record books once again.

Reese Makes WNBA History

Going into Tuesday's loss against the Storm, Reese had totaled 788 points and 735 rebounds through 57 games during her two-year WNBA career. With 6:44 remaining in the third quarter, Reese received a pass from Sky teammate Rachel Banham for a layup. This marked her 12th point of the night and 800th of her career.

In doing so, Reese becomes the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 800 or more career points and 700 or more career rebounds, achieving these marks in only 58 games, per Across the Timeline.

Reese was able to pass Connecticut Sun star Tina Charles' record, achieving these numbers in 62 games during the 2011 WNBA season. Former Sacramento Monar chs standout Yolanda Griffith is the next fastest at 65 games.

Reese's Impact During WNBA Career

After being selected with the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Reese made her presence known immediately. Averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game during her rookie season, Reese was able to break Candace Parker's record for most consecutive double-doubles with a streak of 15 games.

This year, Reese has improved her scoring and playmaking, averaging 14.4 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists. And her impact on the Sky has become clear during her absence. In the ten games she has missed in 2025, Chicago is 1-9 (10% win rate). With Reese, the Sky are 7-17 (29.7%).

Reese and the Sky will be back in action on Thursday, facing Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty on the road.
