The Chicago Sky have been without star forward Angel Reese for the last six games, and she has missed eight of the team’s last ten contests since the All-Star break, a total that continues to grow.

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh continues to list Reese as day-to-day with a back injury. With Chicago set to face the Golden State Valkyries on Friday night, an update was provided on Reese during the team’s morning shootaround, despite her already being ruled out for the game.

According to Chicago State of Mind Sports, Reese continues to make appearances at team activities. She was present at Friday’s shootaround but did not take the court during the portion open to media and has not spoken directly to reporters during her recent injury stretch.

Marsh provided another update on Reese’s status on Friday, saying, “She’s been progressing each day, doing more and more on-court work. I don’t think we’re too far away… she hasn’t practiced with us yet, but she’s present, doing workouts and other activities, so she’s maintaining.”

Earlier this week, Marsh was asked whether the Sky are considering shutting down Reese for the season. The team currently sits at 8-24 overall, firmly out of playoff contention with just 12 games remaining.

"I leave that to the medical staff. I think for us and for Angel, if she's healthy, she wants to play and we want her out there. We just don't want to put her in harm’s way or worsen any existing injury. For us, making sure she's as healthy as possible has always been the priority. Then, with the remaining games, if she's ready to go, she’ll be out there," Marsh said.

Reese has had a stellar season when on the court. She earned her second consecutive All-Star Game nod, and although she has been mostly sidelined since then, the former LSU star is still averaging 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
