The Chicago Sky made a big investment in their frontcourt when they drafted Angel Reese in the first round of last year's WNBA draft, and one insider believes they will look for even more help this year.
The Sky now hold two first-round picks, acquiring the No. 11 overall pick in a deal with Minnesota to go with their No. 10 pick. As part of last year's trade up to the No. 7 pick to select Reese, Chicago had sent the rights to swap 2026 first-round picks with Minnesota. The Sky will instead relinquish next year's pick, sending it to Minnesota without having to exchange picks.
ESPN's Michael Voepel predicted that the Sky would address two needs with their picks, starting with the frontcourt. Voepel projected the Sky to select South Carolina power forward Sania Feagin, who would help bring more talent alongside Reese.
"Feagin was a late bloomer in college, in large part because she was playing behind future WNBA lottery picks Aliyah Boston and Kamilla Cardoso," Voepel wrote. "This past season, an injury to Ashlyn Watkins brought Feagin more to the forefront, and she responded as the Gamecocks advanced to the national championship game. Feagin might just be scratching the surface of what she can do and could join Cardoso with the Sky."
Voepel predicted the Sky would use the No. 11 overall pick on TCU point guard Hailey Van Lith.
Reese is coming off a rookie season where she averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Despite landing a star in Reese, the Sky fell to a 13-27 record, last in the Eastern Conference.
