As dominant as Angel Reese is on the court, she has proven to be just as impactful away from it. The WNBA star continues to advocate for women’s sports while expanding her brand globally, with her latest venture taking her to Australia.

Selected seventh overall by Chicago in the 2024 draft, Reese had already been championing the cause well before her rise to international prominence in the WNBA. In 2023, she founded the Angel C. Reese Foundation, a philanthropic initiative dedicated to empowering young girls.

The two-time All-Star has since expanded her reach on a larger scale. In 2024, she joined the ownership group of DC Power FC in the United Soccer League. A year later, she became part of the ownership group behind TOGETHXR, one of the fastest-growing brands in women’s sports.

Her latest venture now extends beyond the United States.

On Wednesday, Reese was announced as part of a bid to bring a franchise to the Women's National Basketball League in Brisbane. She has joined the group pursuing the league’s 10th license.

The news comes shortly after Reese visited Australia for Reebok to unveil new colorways of her signature Angel Reese 1 basketball shoe. During the same trip, Reebok also announced an official footwear partnership with the WNBL beginning in the 2027 season.

Reacting to the announcement on X, Reese expressed her excitement while reiterating her commitment to growing women’s sports.

"Let’s go! Invest in women’s sports! ," she wrote.

The 23-year-old will join an investment group led by Jason Levien, owner of the Brisbane Bullets, and co-owner Ben Haan. Bullets CEO Malcolm Wells highlighted Reese’s involvement as a major boost for the bid.

“Angel is a fantastic ambassador for basketball and a globally recognized superstar,” said Wells. "She has proven there is no ceiling for female athletes, and that is a powerful message for kids picking up a basketball in Brisbane.

“Basketball is Queensland’s fastest growing sport, and having Angel involved as we pursue a WNBL team is a huge asset.”

Meanwhile, Reese is getting ready for her Team USA debut as they head to the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup qualifiers. She is coming off another strong season with the Sky, having averaged 14.7 points on 45.8 percent shooting, a league-leading 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals in 31.6 minutes per game.
