Angel Reese has established herself as one of the WNBA’s brightest stars in her second season with the Chicago Sky. Averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 30 games, she earned a second consecutive All-Star selection and has posted the most double-doubles (23) this season. Her impact has extended beyond the court as well, with brand partnerships, a signature sneaker with Reebok, and a growing media profile.

While the Sky have struggled to compete, Reese’s individual rise has been undeniable. Now, developments outside the WNBA are adding another chapter to her career, as news surrounding Unrivaled—the women’s 3-on-3 basketball league in which Reese is a central figure—indicates significant uprising for the young competition.

Angel Reese, Unrivaled Receive Big News During WNBA Season

Unrivaled, co-founded by WNBA veterans Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, announced this week that it has reached a $340 million valuation after closing an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The league shared this exciting news on X:

“Taking Unrivaled to the next level. With Unrivaled players remaining the largest equity group, this is how athlete-driven success looks. Thank you for the support of all our investors in this round and previous rounds.”

According to the post, new investors include Serena Venture and NBA stars Trae Young, Franz Wagner, and his brother Moritz. Existing shareholders like Warner Bros. Discovery and Trybe Ventures have also doubled-down on their investments, highlighting the league’s growing profile.

The inaugural season launched in Miami earlier this year, drawing sold-out crowds and averaging 221,000 viewers on TNT and truTV, Unrivaled reported on its website.

Angel Reese was one of the standout players, competing for Rose Basketball and delivering the league’s first-ever 20-20 game with 22 points and 21 rebounds. She went on to win Defensive Player of the Year and helped Rose capture the title.

With her continued involvement, Reese remains one of the faces of the league as it prepares for its second season in 2026.

Tension Between Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky?

While Reese has shined a lot this season, the same cannot be said about her WNBA team. The Sky have recorded just ten wins this season and will miss the playoffs for the second straight year.

Reese has voiced public frustration with the organization, criticizing roster decisions and overall direction (via Chicago Tribune). Those comments led to disciplinary measures from the team and fueled speculation about her long-term future in Chicago.

With the franchise under pressure to address internal issues, questions remain over whether Reese will remain committed or consider other opportunities as her career trajectory continues to climb.
