The Minnesota Lynx waived their 2024 first-round pick, Alissa Pili, on Saturday afternoon — the moving coming fewer than 500 days after she was drafted.

Pili was selected by Minnesota with the eighth overall pick in 2024. They notably opted to trade out of the seventh pick in that year's draft, which the Chicago Sky used to select All-Star forward Angel Reese.
Coincidentally, Reese had 19 points and 11 rebounds to help Chicago beat Minnesota 87-81 just hours before the Lynx cut ties with Pili.
After starring for Utah at the college level, Pili struggled to find the floor with the Lynx. She played 36 total games over the last two seasons, averaging only 6.1 minutes per game. She has scored more than 10 points only once in her WNBA career.
At 24 years old, there's a good chance she'll get another opportunity to prove herself elsewhere with a bigger role.
