Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky battled the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night in Chicago, with Reese finishing as the team’s spark plug despite a 79–72 defeat. The LSU product poured in 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, while also dishing five assists across 35 minutes of play.

Following the contest, the Sky organization announced that Reese was the Player of the Game—an honor she’s earned multiple times this season.

In her postgame interview, Reese turned the spotlight toward Brittney Sykes.

"Brit is special. She’s done a lot of great things in her career," Reese praised. "She was one of my favorite players out of college (when Sykes was at Syracuse)…obviously playing with her in Unrivaled…she’s been an amazing leader on that team (Washington),"

Brittney Sykes posted 32 points on the board with two rebounds, five assists and three steals. She was the top performer on the other team.

"They have 3 great post places, Kiki, Shakira, Aaliyah..we took it personal to try and dominate the paint….for me just trying to be consistent and efficient as best as I can….I just gotta be consistent throughout…every game." Reese added about post-play.

Sky was leading going into the third quarter, but things quickly went downhill from there.

"They (Washington) just pressured us and pressure bust pipes…to score 40 pts off 25 TO's is just unacceptable," Reese said about turnovers, which was then added on by head coach Tyler Marsh.

"They (Washington) extended their pressure and we didn't handle it well…when you turnover that much it puts pressure on your defense." He said. "Certain turnovers you can live with…it’s the ones that’s due to a lack of movement or careless turnovers…credit to Washington, they capitalized."
