Angel Reese had a historic career with LSU, and she's continued that momentum with the Chicago Sky. Now, the two-time WNBA All-Star needs to achieve team success at the top level.
Reese won the NCAA Tournament as well as the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Award with the Tigers in 2023. The Sky then drafted the three-time AP All-American No. 7 overall in 2024, and she's led the league in rebounds per game in each of the last two seasons. She also has 49 career double-doubles, which is a WNBA record for a player's first two campaigns.
However, the Sky finished 13-27 in 2024 and 10-34 this year, missing the playoffs both times. Reese's 2025 season ended on a sour note, as the team suspended her for the first half of its Las Vegas Aces matchup on Sept. 7 for making "detrimental statements" about the organization, via ESPN. She was also suspended by the WNBA for Chicago's Sept. 5 game against the Indiana Fever for excessive technical fouls, and she missed the rest of the season after that anyway due to a back injury.
Reese is still staying sharp as she begins her offseason, though. The 23-year-old shared a personal update via her Instagram story on Saturday.
"20 hills on a SATURDAY?!?!?! YA GIRL IS TIREDDDDD" she captioned a selfie. She also posted a picture of the hills she ran on and tagged trainer Tony Ponton, who she's worked with in the past.
In addition to her training regimen, Reese is active in business ventures. The 2025 Unrivaled champion and Defensive Player of the Year will relaunch her podcast Unapologetically Angel on Oct. 2, via her podcast page. Her Reebok Angel Reese 1 "Charm City" signature shoe, an ode to her hometown of Baltimore, is also releasing in October via SneakerAlert.

The "detrimental statements" that Chicago suspended Reese were her comments on the state of the team, via The Chicago Tribune's Julia Poe.
Reese said she doesn't want to see the oragnization "settling for the same [expletive] we did this year," adding that it "[has] to get great players" for her to stick around.
The two-time WNBA Peak Performer also name-dropped 36-year-old teammate Courtney Vandersloot.
"We can't rely on Courtney to come back [from an ACL tear] at the age that she's at," she said. "I know she'll be a great asset for us, but we can't rely on that. We need someone, probably a little younger with some experience, somebody who's been playing the game and is willing to compete for a championship and has done it before."
The onus is on the Sky to build a championship-caliber roster around Reese before she hits restricted free agency in 2028, or else she might request for a trade.
