Angel Reese’s Blunt Response to Chicago Sky’s Struggles in Second WNBA Season

The Chicago Sky has had a rough start to this season, currently fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 2-4 start in the 2025 WNBA season.

Prior to this season, the team brought back veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot and added Ariel Atkins via free agency, who played for the Washington Mystics from 2018 to 2024. Second-year Kamilla Cardoso and rookie Hailey Van Lith have also shown some promise throughout this season.

Meanwhile, star player Angel Reese continues to dominate the court, averaging a double-double and becoming the fastest WNBA player to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds.

Despite early struggles under their new head coach, Tyler Marsh, many fans believe that the Sky could still find their footing as the season progresses.

Reese recently spoke at a press conference that took place right before her team plays against the Indiana Fever on Saturday. One of the journalists asked the LSU alum about the impact the vets have had on her and the rookies this season so far, especially losing four games in a row at the start of the season. But one thing the athlete really emphasized was being patient.

"Losing sucks and it can really take a toll on you. We just come to practice every day and they just kept us going and kept us patient," answered Reese. "Especially young players like me, we aren't used to losing like that...Having great vets is the most important thing this offseason, we got it."

The Sky is currently playing against the Fever at the United Center in Chicago. The first quarter of the game ended with a score of 21-13, but in favor of the Fever.
