Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream opened the season in style, beating the Minnesota Lynx by one point at Target Center on Saturday night.
Reese came up big for the Dream, registering a huge double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds to help Atlanta secure a 91-90 victory. She also recorded two assists, two steals and three blocks.
The two-time All-Star also had one of the biggest plays of the game. After Te-Hina Paopao gave the Dream the lead with 12 seconds left, the Lynx had a couple more opportunities to score.
In Minnesota's final shot, Emese Hof had a clear look at the basket for a layup. Thankfully for the Dream, Reese was quick to react and blocked Hof to preserve the lead.
Allisha Gray led the Dream with 24 points, while Rhyne Howard and Naz Hillmon added 15 points apiece.
Following the game, Reese was naturally in a celebratory mood. On her Instagram story, she shared the Dream's post about the result of the game and wrote, "DUBS IN THE [Expletive] CHAT."
In her first two years in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky, Reese had never won a season opener. In fact, last campaign, the Sky lost four straight games before getting their first win.
That being said, it's not surprising to see Reese hyped up about her team get off to a great start.
Reese also made history in the process, as she became the fastest player ever to reach 50 career double-doubles in WNBA history.
