The Chicago Sky resume action Thursday night against the Seattle Storm, looking to return to winning ways. The team dropped its 16th game of the season earlier this week, falling 91-68 to the Minnesota Lynx. Veteran guard Ariel Atkins was ruled out of Tuesday’s game due to a leg injury, while Angel Reese, who played through a back injury,  managed to record a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Reese has been a positive contributor for Chicago this year, averaging 13.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. The two-time All-Star is officially listed as questionable against Seattle per the Sky’s injury report, and her status will be closely monitored in the hours leading up to tip-off.

Ahead of Thursday’s matchup, head coach Tyler Marsh was asked about Reese’s injury status and confirmed that she’s still working her way back to full recovery

“It was feeling a little tight coming out of the game the other day. So yeah, I think she wants to be at her best self for her teammates,” he said. “But she's a competitor. She wants to be out there and compete. She wants to be able to do it at 100%. And obviously it's tough going through the ups and downs of the season, whether it's from an injury standpoint or a wins-loss standpoint. But she's a fighter, she'll continue to work through and battle back. And we'll continue to be there to lift her up and pick her up in those moments as well.”

The team will hope to have Reese back on the floor fully healthy. Despite their subpar form this season, Reese’s relentless rebounding and hustle have anchored Chicago’s frontcourt, and she has continued to prove her value to the team.

Thursday’s matchup against Seattle presents another major challenge. With Atkins still out, the Sky will need a near-complete effort—and a healthy Reese—to stay competitive. Whether she’s fully cleared or plays limited minutes, all eyes will be on her as Chicago looks to turn its season around.
