The Chicago Sky are coming off a hard-fought loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Monday night—a team they've now faced three times in just eight days. With the defeat, the Sky dropped to 7-14 as they head into their final game before the All-Star break.
Chicago is set to host the 12-9 Atlanta Dream at 12 p.m. EST on Wednesday. However, they’ll have to do so without two of their key players: Angel Reese, who’s been outstanding all season, and Ariel Atkins—both of whom have been ruled out.
Ahead of tip-off, both players received notable updates. Atkins, sidelined with a leg injury, is considered day-to-day. Reese is also out with a leg issue, but her absence appears to be precautionary—an encouraging sign that the team is simply giving her additional rest before she suits up for Team Collier in this weekend’s All-Star Game.

This comes as encouraging news for both players. Ariel Atkins exited the game against the Lynx and did not return, which raised concern among Sky fans.
Now listed as day-to-day and with nearly a week of rest ahead, she could be ready to return when the Sky take the court next Tuesday—ironically, once again against the Lynx. That game will mark the fourth meeting between the two teams this season.
Atkins is averaging 13.9 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. Meanwhile, Angel Reese continues to be one of the WNBA’s standout performers, averaging 14.0 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals.
