While the Chicago Sky haven’t had the season they envisioned—already eliminated from playoff contention with nine games remaining—they still pulled off an impressive road victory on Thursday night, defeating the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty 91-85.

Leading the way were Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese, both recording double-doubles. Cardoso finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists, while Reese added 21 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.

After the game, Reese didn ’t hesitate to run to the sidelines and share a heartfelt embrace with former Sky coach and WNBA legend Teresa Weatherspoon, who played a significant role in Reese’s development as a rookie in 2024.

The moment was captured by "Chicago State of Mind Sports," which wrote, “A beautiful moment after the game between Angel Reese and T-Spoon.”

Sky fans reacted to Reese's heartwarming moment with her former coach:

"It sucks we weren’t able to see them have a full, healthy season together," a fan said.

Someone else added, "t's beautiful to see. The way T has embraced and monitored Angel last year was amazing.

Another person wrote, "Pure love."

"Spoon is such a blessing to Angel and vice versa. I love them together," one more fan commented.

Teresa Weatherspoon only had the opportunity to coach the Sky for one season. After finishing the year 13-27, she was dismissed, and the team ultimately hired current head coach Tyler Marsh, who now has the Sky sitting at 9-26.

Back in January, during her podcast "Unapologetically Angel," Reese shared her feelings about Weatherspoon and the news of her firing.

“I was so heartbroken,” Reese said. “I’m big on relationships and she knew what was best for me and the team.

“You were the best reason & season. You didn’t deserve this but I can’t thank you enough. I love you Tspoon."
