Arike Ogunbowale became the Dallas Wings’ all-time leader in field goals made Tuesday night, scoring 20 points to lead her team to an 87–63 victory over the Seattle Storm.

Ogunbowale’s milestone came with 3:39 remaining in the fourth quarter, when she hit a midrange jumper for her seventh field goal of the game and the 1,477th of her career, surpassing Deanna Nolan (1,476) for the franchise record. Nolan’s total stood from 2001 to 2009, when the franchise was based in Detroit.

Ogunbowale shot 7-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and added four rebounds and two assists. The performance came at a crucial time for the three-time All-Star, who had missed four games earlier in July due to a left thumb injury. In her two appearances before the All-Star break, Ogunbowale struggled, shooting just 3-of-22 from the floor and 3-of-9 from beyond the arc for a total of 11 points.

“My teammates,” Ogunbowale said. “I missed some easy ones in the first half, but at halftime they kept saying, ‘Next one’s in.’ That support helped me stay confident.”

Dallas (7-17) trailed by 10 in the second quarter before closing the first half on an 8-0 run. The Wings then erupted for a 17-0 burst to start the third quarter, part of a 53–27 second-half advantage that led to their most lopsided win of the season.

“Second half of the season — whatever happened before, we learn from it, leave the bad behind, and build new habits,” Ogunbowale said. “This was a great team win.”

The record adds to Ogunbowale’s growing résumé. She already holds franchise records for points per game, 3-pointers made, and free throws made. She was named All-Star Game MVP in 2021 and earned All-WNBA First Team honors in 2020.

This season, Ogunbowale is averaging 15.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.4 steals in 33.7 minutes per game.

Dallas plays at Golden State on Friday to end a two-game road trip.
