Angel Reese has been a staple of headlines since she entered the WNBA in 2024. The Atlanta Dream forward has established herself as one of the best rebounders and is a walking double-double machine. Her team announced on Thursday that she once again rewrote the history books.
Reese and Atlanta defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 124-88. She dominated by recording a near triple-double of 20 points, on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. The 24-year-old added 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Rhyne Howard also had a strong performance, finishing with 26 points, five assists and five three-pointers. Naz Hillmon added 14 points and five rebounds.
However, Reese shone the most by besting her previous league record with still eight games left on the schedule.
The three-time All-Star surpassed her 172 offensive rebounds in her rookie year, the most in a single season in WNBA history. She has the opportunity to add more to her total with the regular season far from over.

While Reese has often been criticized for her lack of efficiency, her rebounding prowess can’t be ignored. She knows how to position herself well near the basket and is not afraid to go up against other star forwards and centers.
Atlanta is battling for a top three seed. The team is currently fifth in the standings but only half-a-game behind the Indiana Fever. Reese and Co. are also just trailing the Las Vegas Aces one game for third place.
The LSU product’s feat is impressive; however, she likely has team success above individual achievements. The Dream will return to action on Saturday when they clash with the Phoenix Mercury. Another road game follows two days later versus Sparks. They will open a four-game homestand beginning on Aug. 28 against the Portland Fire.
