Azzi Fudd Claims Impressive WNBA Shooting Record Ahead Of League Superstars

Former top pick in the WNBA and now analyst for ESPN, Chiney Ogwumike, mentioned Azzi Fudd as the pure shooter, predicting her as the first overall pick for the Dallas Wings. Now, seven games into the season, she is right on both analyses. Not only did the Wings select her as the top pick in the draft, but the 22-year-old is a ‘lethal weapon’ for the franchise.

Although the player had a slow start to her WNBA career, her recent performance against the New York Liberty silenced all the critics.

One more aspect is that the player is thriving on the floor. The current stats show Fudd shooting 55% from the field, including 40% from three-point range. She also has over 90% accuracy from the free-throw range, making her the only player with high efficiency.

Playing for UConn, she posted a 46% FG% over four seasons and peaked in her final season, showing massive improvement across every stat. Moving to the Wings, the star continues to be one of the top performers for the side.

Her shooting efficiency is allowing the former Huskies star to be a key contributor for the side early in the season, and she could be a member of the core in the coming games, as the GM Curt Miller envisioned for her.

Azzi Fudd Becoming Part of the Core For Dallas Wings

Landing a top pick in the 2026 WNBA draft, the Wings were in a unique position to have back-to-back top picks and select players from the same program. The transition was easier, and the impact was bigger for the 2026 rookie.

While the player delivered impressive shooting stats, the more interesting numbers come when she is on the floor with Arike Ogunbowale and Paige Bueckers. The trio scored 67 of Dallas’ 91 points and had an offensive rating of 117.9. Importantly, the side also performed well on the defensive end, posting a defensive rating of 92.7.

Famous for her ‘UConn way of fast game’, Fudd also helped the side on fast-break points, where the team ranks among the top sides with 14.1 fast-break points per game. Fudd already impressed Arike Ogunbowale, who has nothing but praise for the rookie, but the trio is already making some noise in the league.
