Azzi Fudd Sends Clear Message as WNBA Draft Nears

Azzi Fudd has a clear message for the WNBA teams eyeing her in the upcoming draft: she’s not thinking about them yet. With a national title on the line, the UConn star is focused on staying present and finishing her collegiate career on top.

“My goal all year has been to stay present because I’ve had four years to watch the upperclassmen before me go through this and get drafted, and just how easy it is to get sucked into all the things that are coming next,” Fudd said during a media availability before UConn’s game against South Carolina in the semifinals at the Final Four.

Fudd has been a big part of UConn’s undefeated season (38-0), as she elevated her game following the departure of Paige Bueckers.

Fudd averages 17.5 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game, along with shooting at 45.5% from beyond the arc. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 Final Four, a performance she says gave her the confidence to have an All-American senior season.

Fudd can cap her successful collegiate career on a high note as the Huskies face rival South Carolina in the Final Four. The Geno Auriemma-led side remains undefeated for 54 games straight, and the 2025 national championship rematch against USC will be its ultimate test.

Fudd was also asked about whether UConn is battle-tested enough at this stage, given its Big East schedule. Conversations were going around whether UCLA deserved the No. 1 overall seed, as they played a tougher nonconference schedule and had more Quad 1 wins than UConn. However, Fudd simply brushed it off.

And for now, she is only thinking about finishing the job, helping the Huskies chase their first perfect season since 2016. Once Fudd helps the Huskies reach that milestone, we might see her reunite with Bueckers in the 2026 season.
