Kelsey Plum is headed back to Las Vegas for the first time since getting traded by the Aces in January. A three-time All-Star, Plum spent the previous six seasons in an Aces uniform, winning two WNBA championships in the process. She enters the matchup as the league's second-leading scorer , behind only Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx.

Heading into Friday night's matchup against Las Vegas, Plum is averaging 25.2 points, 5.5 assists and 2.2 rebounds a game. Beyond the stats, though, Plum has been, well, just the spark L.A. has needed both offensively and defensively. She's also currently leading The W in steals with 2.7.

Aces head coach Becky Hammon, who is more than a tad familiar with Plum's game, says her team will be paying extra attention to KP.

"Plum requires special defense," Hammon said, via Callie Fin of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "She’s just too elite of a player to just let her just do whatever she wants."

It will be interesting to see how Las Vegas attempts to shut her down. Hammon says she's going to take a different approach than she normally would.

"A lot of (our former) players, we’ll just play them like any other opponent," Hammon added. "(Plum), because of how good she is, we’re gonna have to do things a little bit differently with her. But it’s not personal. I would do a special thing for (New York’s Sabrina Ionescu). I would try to do a special thing for Caitlin (Clark). It just is what it is."

Reigning MVP A'ja Wilson says the Aces are still ready to welcom Plum Dawg back with open arms, though.

"I mean, I look forward to every game. But I’m excited to have (Plum) back in ‘The House.’ I know we’re going to show her a lot of love," Wilson said. "She won us two championships here, so obviously we’re going to give everything that we can, the energy, the positive vibes, towards her. But it’s going to be another game."
