Breaking Down The New York Liberty’s 2025 Schedule

The Liberty’s schedule breakdown will see them face each Eastern Conference opponent four teams each. Meanwhile, New York will face the Minnesota Lynx, Phoenix Mercury, and the expansion team Golden State Valkyires, four times each. The remaining Western Conference teams (Dallas, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Seattle) will see them face each other only three times each. The 2025 schedule will see each team playing a record 44 games over nearly four months.

“The regular season will feature a record-high 44 games per team, with each team playing 22 home games and 22 road games. In addition, the fifth annual WNBA Commissioner’s Cup presented by Coinbase will include a 17-day period in June when the league’s schedule will consist entirely of Cup games.“

• Thursday: 5 Home, 3 Away

Five Key Games In The 2025 Season

Saturday, May 17 vs. Las Vegas Aces

The Liberty will open the 2025 season at home while raising their 2024 championship banner and receiving their championship rings. Additionally, the Liberty begin their season against the 2022 & 2023 champions Las Vegas Aces. The rematch will see the two “superteams” under a slightly new roster due to free agency and an upcoming expansion draft.

Sunday, June 1 vs. Connecticut Sun

June 1 is when the Liberty begins the quest to win the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup. The journey begins facing their Eastern Conference nemesis the Connecticut Sun. The Sun is currently without a head coach and sees several key players as free agents heading into the 2025 free-agency period. However, if the Sun can retain their core group, they should still remain the Liberty’s top opponent for the 2025 season.

Wednesday, July 16, and Tuesday, July 22 vs. Indiana Fever

The Liberty will face the league’s most dynamic and youngest team in a [almost] back-to-back home series. The Fever, led by Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, will return to Barclays Center twice. Meanwhile, they host the 2025 All-Star game in Indianapolis in between (July 19). Liberty’s midway point will be critical at this stage to see them retain that top seed and continue the second half of the season toward their journey to repeat as champions.

Tuesday, August 5 vs. Dallas Wings

The Dallas Wings recently won the 2025 draft lottery and are expected to take UCONN’s Paige Bueckers with the top pick. Huskie and Liberty fans must wait until August 5 to see Bueckers in person. This date is also the lone home game for Bueckers at Barclays in 2025. A late-season must-watch and a guaranteed sellout for the Liberty. The Wings, like the Connecticut Sun, are currently without a head coach.

Sunday, August 10, and Tuesday, August 19 vs. Minnesota Lynx

The Liberty will have to wait until August 10 to face their 2024 Finals opponent, the Minnesota Lynx, at home. Furthermore, New York won’t face the Lynx for the first time in 2025 until July 30 in Minneapolis. Then, the Liberty will face the Lynx three more times over 19 days. This includes two home games plus another visit to Target Center on Saturday, August 16. All four games this late in the season will be critical in the late-season push toward the 2025 playoffs.
