Brittney Griner is widely regarded as one of the best players in WNBA history.

The Atlanta Dream star is playing in her first season with the team, having previously played 11 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury.

Griner is looking to lead Atlanta to a WNBA title with the help of stars Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray. The Dream have certainly played their way into WNBA title contention, tied for the second-best record at 22-13 with the New York Liberty, and much of that comes with the success that Griner has had this season.

The Dream center has been Atlanta's cornerstone piece on the defensive end and continues to give the team life on offense, inside the painted area.

While she's shown her prowess, Griner was recently moved to the bench. Griner missed three straight games with an upper body injury.

She then returned against the Mercury over a week ago and has since came off the bench for Dream coach Karl Smesko.

While it's rare for the WNBA legend to come off the bench, the WNBA recently shared their insight on the subject, hinting that Griner could return to the starting lineup in the Atlanta Dream's next matchup.

"Griner continues to play off the bench, but this performance Tuesday was perhaps one of her best outings of the entire campaign," according to Roto Wire in a post on WNBA.com. "The veteran center recorded at least two tallies in each of the five major categories, and it wouldn't be surprising if she returns to the first unit when the Dream take on the Lynx on Thursday. She certainly turned a few heads with her play in this loss to Las Vegas."

In the matchup against the Las Vegas Aces, Brittney Griner posted 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists. She also greatly impacted the game on the defensive end with two blocks and two steals.

The Dream are now preparing for a matchup on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET against the Minnesota Lynx.

Throughout her first season with the Atlanta Dream, Brittney Griner has posted 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.

Griner has started in 25 of 30 games for the Dream, coming off the bench for the past five games.
