Brittney Griner is Trending After Dunking in Unrivaled Game
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Brittney Griner is set to start the next chapter of her WNBA career during the 2025 season after signing with the Atlanta Dream in free agency, leaving the Phoenix Mercury following 11 years.

Before she starts her Atlanta tenure, Griner has made her way to Miami, Florida, for the inaugural season of the new 3-on-3 Unrivaled league.

On Monday, Griner and Phantom Basketball Club (BC) were back in action, falling to Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier and Lunar Owls BC 92-79. And Griner was able to make a bit of history for the new league.

During the game, Griner was able to pull off the first ever dunk in Unrivaled history. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise as Griner holds the WNBA record for most career dunks with 25.

WNBA fans loved seeing Griner throw it down in an Unrivaled game, taking to social media to leave their thoughts.

"Brittney Griner dunk and three in back to back possessions is awesome," one fan said.

"Unrivaled gave me a Brittney Griner dunk I’m shedding happy tears ," added another.

"BG just dunked bffr i love me some Brittney Griner," wrote a third.

"Brittney Griner dunked it lol," commented a fourth.

"BRITTNEY GRINER DUNKKKK," posted a fifth.

"Brittney Griner with the first ever dunk in Unrivaled history," added a sixth.

Lisa Leslie, who was in attendance for Monday night's game, was impressed with Griner's dunk, calling it "outstanding" and "historic." Leslie became the first WNBA player ever to dunk in a game.

Griner finished the night with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, seven rebounds and seven assists. Up next for Phantom BC is Alyssa Thomas and Laces BC on Friday.
