On Wednesday at Wintrust Arena, the Atlanta Dream cruised past the Chicago Sky 86–49, dominating from the opening tip to close out the third quarter leading 74–36 run.
Brittney Griner led the way with 15 points on 6‑of‑11 shooting, while Brionna Jones and Allisha Gray each poured in 14 points. Atlanta’s starters combined for 58 of the team’s points, and the Dream outscored Chicago in every quarter to improve to 13–9 on the season.
Also, Griner etched her name further into the WNBA history books. With an early second‑quarter basket, she passed Jewell Loyd (5,768 points) to move into 19th place on the WNBA's all-time scoring list with 5,769 career points. By game’s end, Griner had added five rebounds and two blocks. She stands at 5,777 career points, 20 behind Angel McCoughtry for 18th place on the all-time list.
Chicago was hampered by the unfortunate absence of Angel Reese, who was ruled out Wednesday with a leg injury sustained days before the All‑Star break. Reese had been averaging a double‑double in July, and without her presence in the paint, the Sky managed just 49 points and were outrebounded 42–33 in one of their largest defeats of the year.
Beyond Griner’s landmark achievement, Atlanta’s depth was on full display. Rookie Te‑Hina Paopao chipped in 13 points, Naz Hillmon added 10, and floor general Jordin Canada dished out eight assists.

On the Chicago side, Rebecca Allen was the lone bright spot with nine points, including three third‑quarter triples. As the Dream head into the All‑Star break, they’ll look to ride this balanced attack and Griner’s historic run toward a top‑seed finish in the Eastern Conference.
