The Atlanta Dream signed Brittney Griner for one season, but that stint has now come to an end as the veteran center moves to another East Coast franchise.

The 35-year-old will have an opportunity to play closer to her hometown after signing a seven-figure deal with the Connecticut Sun. The team is expected to relocate as part of the return of the legendary WNBA franchise, the Houston Comets.

Griner was a shade of her former self with the Dream, although she was still a force inside. She finished the season averaging 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. She signed a one-year deal with the Sun, although the exact amount was not disclosed.

The 10-time All-Star personally announced the news on her Instagram account and also thanked her former team for their season together.

“Brittney is and has been one of the most impactful players in our game throughout her legendary career. Her presence will help elevate our organization and team on the floor, with our fans, and in our community," Sun

"What excites us the most is not just her on-court talent, but who she is as a person. Her leadership, resilience, and the way she connects with her teammates and fans bring immeasurable value to our franchise."
