Caitlin Clark played her best game of the young season on Friday. The Indiana Fever superstar finished with 32 points, including seven three-pointers, four rebounds, eight assists and two steals. However, her efforts weren’t enough to lead her team to a win.
She and Kelsey Mitchell led the charge, combining for 56 points. Clark also forced overtime by knocking down a triple with 2.1 seconds left. Washington’s Sonia Citron converted a half-court heave on the ensuing play but failed to beat the buzzer.
Not many expected Indiana to start the season 1-2. The team was a preseason favorite, and it has one of the most favorable early schedules. Clark and company have their work cut out for them as they look to turn things around quickly.
Clark hyped the crowd after tying the game with her clutch three-pointer late in the fourth quarter. Fever photographer Bri Lewerke posted a clip on TikTok showing the 6-foot guard celebrating. Fans noticed that her tongue was blue, and she responded in the comments section to set the record straight.
“Blue Gatorade was had,” Clark wrote.

Gatorade is one of the major brands Clark endorses, along with Nike, State Farm and Wilson, among others.
The 2024 Rookie of the Year and Indiana will look to bounce back on Sunday against the Seattle Storm. They will play their next three games at home, giving them a stronger chance of achieving a winning record.
Clark also aims to shoot the ball more efficiently, as she made only 10 of her 28 attempts versus the Mystics. She also struggled in the season opener, converting seven of 18 shots.
The 24-year-old averages 41.3% from the field through three games. Her efficiency will be key to Indiana’s success as she is the team’s No. 1 option.
