Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly the biggest name in women's basketball today. She had a massive effect on the Indiana Fever and the WNBA in her rookie season, with her economic impact on the city of Indianapolis alone estimated to be $36 million.
Furthermore, according to a valuation expert interviewed by IndyStar, Clark was responsible for "26.5% of the WNBA's leaguewide activity for the 2024 season, including attendance, merchandise sales and television." Basically, "one of every six tickets sold at a WNBA arena can be attributed to Clark."
As Clark continues to soar in popularity, it's not a surprise that teams and the league also consistently feel her impact, or so fans believe.
Over the last couple of days, the Fever received a couple of big news. First off, they were nominated for Sports Team of the Year in the Sports Business Awards by Sports Business Journal.
On Wednesday, it was also revealed that their game against the Dallas Wings on June 27 had been moved to the American Airlines Center to accommodate more attendees.
In the comment section of both posts on Instagram, fans were convinced it's all because of Caitlin Clark.
"CAITLIN CLARK FOREVER," a commenter wrote on the Fever's Instagram post about their award nomination. Another one said, "Its called Caitlin Clark effect."
A fan echoed a similar sentiment, noting, "Caitlin Clark Effect at work."
"3rd team to do this for CC," a follower noted on the team's venue update about the Wings game.
"Clark-o-nomics," a poster further stated.
A sixth fan shared, "Everyone wants to cash in when CC and her Fever teammates are in town."
Considering that Caitlin Clark is just getting started, fans can expect to see her continue to dominate both on and off the court and grow her influence further.
