Caitlin Clark has been forced to watch the Indiana Fever from the sidelines over their last three games, still dealing with a quad strain that will keep her out at least one more.

Going into Tuesday, the Fever were riding a three-game losing streak, but that came to an end after an 85-76 win over the Washington Mystics.

With Clark watching from the bench, Indiana turned to fellow All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell for the bulk of the scoring, notching 24 points on 7-of-14 shooting, two rebounds and three assists.

Even though Clark is dealing with a multi-week injury, that didn’t stop her from having some fun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Before Tuesday’s game, she was seen playfully bouncing a ball up and down.

But one bounce got away from her as the ball sailed into the crowd, appearing to land near one of the fans sitting courtside.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes star went to retrieve the ball as Sophie Cunningham, also sidelined with a right ankle injury, looked on. After stepping back onto the court, Clark turned and apologized to the fan for the accidental bounce.

"Sorry," Clark said with a smile on her face.

Clark was able to play in the Fever's first four games of the 2025 WNBA season, leading them to a 2-2 record. In those contests, she is averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists.

With Clark and Cunningham both sidelined, the Fever brought in guard Aari McDonald to fill a roster spot, and she stepped up against Washington as well. McDonald tallied seven points, five assists and three steals, making a strong case for a permanent place on the team.

The Fever will embark on a road trip to battle the Chicago Sky on Saturday, a game Clark will miss. However, she could potentially return in the following matchup against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday.
